The Group received the seven figure funding package enabling them to expand into an area with scarce medical provisions. The brand new facility includes 14 consultation rooms to accommodate GPs, nurse treatment areas and training facilities for junior doctor's learning and development.
The new practice has created 20 jobs for specialist medical professionals and administration with Westrop now employing 142 people across five locations.
Westrop’s expansion into North Swindon will take pressure off the surrounding NHS medical centres which were receiving an excess of patients from outside their area due to a lack of investment in regional medical services and talent. Tadpole will also follow in the footsteps of Westrop’s other practices offering support from mental health experts, dietitians, pharmacists, and physicians.
Westrop Medical Practice Group provides healthcare for more than 31,500 people across five locations, with the new Tadpole practice to provide care to 8,500 people in what is the only primary medical practice in the local area. Westrop will increase their patient capacity by almost a quarter to 40,000 over the next five years.
Dr Sarah Bruen, managing partner of Westrop Medical Practice Group’s Tadpole surgery, said: “Our patient’s interests are at the heart of everything we do. Investing in cutting edge facilities has allowed us to increase our capacity across the group and place learning and development as a key pillar while ensuring we continue to provide the best care possible.
“We’ve been a customer with Lloyds Bank for almost 20 years and the amazing support has never changed. Lloyds enabled us to move quickly with our development plans and aided us with any complex challenges along the way with the opening of the practice taking huge amounts of pressure off the group.”
Jon Saltinstall, director of healthcare at Lloyds Bank, said: “The last two years have been a real struggle for the NHS up and down the country with the South West stretched thin on all fronts. Investment in regional medical provisions will increase capacity across other facilities and supply better access to local healthcare services.
“We have a long standing relationship with Westrop and we’re incredibly proud to have supported the development of their new surgery at Tadpole Green Village.”
