Our Virtual Terminal is a web-based, standalone Mail Order Telephone Order (MOTO) application software that allows you to process card payments over the phone, without the cardholder being present.
As its online, it can turn your laptop or tablet into a virtual card machine whenever you need to take a payment. It accepts all major credit and debit cards and as payments are made on our system, you don’t have to worry about storing sensitive cardholder data.
Taking card payments over the phone, means you can be ready to sell from anywhere, and your customers can call to pay for goods and services in a way that’s convenient and safe for them.
Take payments over the phone for £10 a month + VAT
Transactional fee:
10p + VAT per transaction
These costs are in addition to the standard fees for accepting card payments.

Added protection against fraud
The Virtual Terminal is PCI DSS compliant and includes Address Verification Service (AVS) and Card Verification Value (CVV) to help protect against fraud.
You can also set up role-based access permissions and multiple user accounts, meaning you have complete control over who uses the terminal.
How to take a card payment over the phone
Pay by link
Our Virtual Terminal is also where you can accept payments from customers through a secure payment link. The link can be sent by embedding it in an email, SMS, WhatsApp, or an invoice.
Customers will also have the option to pay with Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Take payments over the phone using a card reader
As well as taking card payments face to face, most of our card readers give you the option to key in a card number and expiry date, subject to our approval and a software update.

Our Virtual Terminal is a PCI-approved payment system. However, merchants still need to confirm that their organisation meets the requirements for PCI DSS compliance and provide an Attestation of Compliance on an annual basis or at any time they change how they accept card payments.

When taking payments over the phone, you can accept debit and credit card payments from Visa, Mastercard, Diners, Discover and American Express. Our Virtual Terminal supports payment from digital wallets such as Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal if you use the Virtual Terminal to create and send a payment link for customers to pay through.

Your Lloyds Bank Cardnet account will be set up within 7-10 days of your application, subject to our terms and conditions.

Your funds should land in your business bank account within three-to-five working days from the transaction date, if the settlement is made in sterling. Faster settlement options are available. Please note there is a charge for this service.
