Diversity and Inclusion

At Lloyds, we’re building a bank that is truly representative of modern Britain – supporting our customers, communities, and colleagues.

Building an inclusive bank

We'll speak up and act when something could cause harm and offence.

We won’t tolerate discrimination, violent or offensive behaviour of any kind – whether racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ageist, ableist etc. This applies across all our branches, offices, phone interactions, and online.

Those who do act in this way could be removed from our premises, have their calls terminated, or accounts closed. We may also refer cases to the police.

Our goal is to foster a safe and supportive environment for both our colleagues and customers. We are dedicated to doing the right thing and being allies to the communities we serve.

How we are supporting our customers and colleagues

accessibility-and-disability

Accessibility and disability

  • We’ll adapt our services to help with your needs where we can, whether they are visible or non-visible.
  • We were the first bank to launch the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard scheme across our UK-wide branch network.
  • We work with Digital Accessibility Centre (DAC) in making sure our online content is accessible for all.
  • We were the first bank to offer British Sign Language Video Calling for Deaf customers – supported by skilled BSL interpreters.
  • Working with Signly we offer a British Sign Language (BSL) translation tool. Deaf customers can read our webpages with the help of qualified sign language translators.
  • We give colleagues internal training to increase awareness of long-term health conditions, including visible and non-visible disabilities.

Accessibility and disability support

mental-health

Mental health

  • Together with Mental Health UK and internal training, we tackle stigma, raise awareness, and equip customers and colleagues with tools to support their mental health.
  • Our independent charitable Foundations provide funding and support to small and local mental health charities.
  • We have trained mental health advocates across our business, offering wellbeing support to our colleagues.
  • Many customer-facing colleagues have advanced their understanding with the help of the Money and Mental Health Policy Institute and their Mental Health Accessible Programme.

Mental health support

race-and-ethnicity

Race and ethnicity

  • We aim to create a fully inclusive culture for all colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • We support Black-owned businesses through our partnership with Foundervine and the Black Business Network.
  • Our independent charitable Foundations provide funding and support to many small and local charities led by and for Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities.
  • We developed a Race Education Programme, to help colleagues with discussing issues, building awareness, allyship, and prompt positive action.
  • Our race and ethnicity colleague network REACH, aims to create a truly inclusive environment. They offer professional development and support for colleagues from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds.

sexual-orientation-and-gender-identity

Sexual orientation and gender identity

  • We actively support and celebrate Pride season and decorate our branches to celebrate and support greater LGBTQ+ inclusion.
  • We raise awareness and encourage support for other key LGBTQ+ awareness days during the year. We aim to create a welcoming environment for all LGBTQ+ colleagues.
  • We provide a safe and supportive environment for customers and colleagues navigating changes to their gender identity.
  • Our branch colleagues have the option to add their pronouns to their name badge. We feel this helps everyone to feel welcome and valued.
  • We have trained LGBTQ+ mental health advocates to support colleagues across our business.
  • Our colleague network, Rainbow, provides support to all LGBTQ+ colleagues and allies.
