Your sustainability and efficiency

Everyone wants to become more sustainable, reduce carbon emissions and save money on their energy costs. But this is a complex task involving many moving parts, so it is important that you approach this strategically and engage the whole organisation.

Two of the most important areas to consider are your overall sustainability strategy and the efficiency of your estate and buildings. Until now it has been difficult to benchmark your performance in these areas but now, with these free tools from Barker and Lloyds you can do just that.

Sustainability Self-Assessment from Barker

Becoming more sustainable is a long-term journey that requires consistent action across multiple areas. Getting to Net Zero will only be achieved through projects and programmes across all facets of your organisation with the engagement of everyone.

Via this simple online tool, you will be asked a series of questions about your approach to sustainability. You will receive a sustainability strategy score and personalised report with ideas on how to improve.

The self-assessment covers the following 5 key areas that are the component parts of a comprehensive sustainability strategy:

Planning and leadership: Taking a strategic approach, having strong leadership and setting clear targets will help focus activity and accelerate your progress.

Current position and statutory reporting: Understanding where you are now, what data you need and what statutory obligations you have helps set objectives and make evidence-based decisions.

Operations and implementation: Establishing clear roles, responsibilities and processes will drive progress and facilitate better communication within your organisation.

Energy efficiency: Buying smart, using less and generating your own energy will save money and reduce carbon emissions.

Wider sustainability: Having sustainability plans in place across all the key areas of your organisation will ensure a holistic and comprehensive approach.

The quiz takes just 5 minutes, is completely free and you will receive your customised results instantly.

The client journey

Lloyds and Barker’s sustainability journey with Windsor Academy Trust started with a successful application for the government's Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme. This initiated a programme of energy efficiency projects including LED lighting, Solar PV panels, heating controls and building fabric improvements.

The Trust have gone on to make sustainability a core pillar of their overall strategy with the aim of being the most sustainable Trust in the country. Lloyds and Barker have supported the Trust with further capital investment programmes for low carbon heating systems, battery storage and electric vehicle charging points as well as contributing to their communication and engagement programmes.

"Lloyds and Barker don’t just write strategies and talk about change. They offer practical, expert advice and deliver innovative projects that, when linked together, have enabled a chain of events that have contributed directly to our sustainability progress."
